Autumn Everywhere & Muddy Boots.

I actually don't mind being cold at all, it's so easy to whack on a few extra layers if needed, it's the darn rain I can't stand - and the misery it brings with it.

It had been so dark and dreary lately and it's all well and good celebrating autumn but the change in the weather isn't really something I'm willing to get on board with.

So when the sun finally shone last Sunday, it was time to take a walk to a much-neglected favourite place and unwind. I was getting the beginnings of feeling poorly so for me it was warm enough to walk around in just a cardigan (though I didn't quite realise that the time).



It's a wonderful time of year to see the sun, it makes everything golden no matter what the time of day and walking around Greenham Common again was so nice, even if my favourite boots ended up with a bit more mud on them than I would have liked.





Why is it always one shoe?



All the horse chesnuts we came across had already been harvested.

We were able to be quite the mycologists, there were mushrooms everywhere! ♥




We rescued this little guy from spending the rest of his life on his back :)


The cows seemed much more relaxed than usual, I think because there were only a few dogs around but it was really easy to get up close.




There were a few bulls in the small herd we came across, I hadn't seen any on the common before but they seemed as relaxed as the cows, which was nice to see.


Here's to my kind of autumn day! As it gets colder, the contrast of coming home to a warm flat will be the best, it's definitely a good idea to get out and do this more, we haven't been for any weekend walks in what feels like ages. It's probably best to keep on with it once Moon and I have completely shifted the last of this lurgy though.

Wintery but good.

This weekend has certainly flown by, it must be the fact that my first full week of work in weeks is looming for tomorrow...

I took an extra few days off after the New Year to basically extend my relaxation, and I totally did but I had hoped that this would include a bit of outdoor exploring. If you've seen any form of news recently you might be aware that it's been raining quite a bit so that certainly put a stop to that, which was why it was so nice that Saturday was such a sunshiney day. I really don't care if it's cold, I just really don't like it when it's wet.




So, Saturday started with taking Doll to the vet for her vaccinations, she's fine but her teeth could be better, which meant our first Saturday errand was to go to Pets At Home and pick her up some dental-specific food and toothpaste (yep, that exists). It's actually way easier to get her to let me do it than I thought it would be, she's been particularly dopey recently so she's basically cool with everything.

After a stop off at the market and some lunch we popped out for a sunset walk around Greenham Common, it was really pretty, I love how flat some parts of it are, you can see for miles. It's usually deserted but there were so many people out at the same time, I guess it makes a lot of sense though considering it's the first bit of sun we've seen in these parts for what feels like an age.






I haven't been taking nearly as many photographs as I would have liked to so it was a nice excuse to take as many as possible of the beautiful sunset, it's just a shame that it didn't signal that we'd have as a nice day today.





It wouldn't be a walk around Greenham Common without some cows. :)

In other news (ish):

• I did do something productive with my time off and updated my portfolio, I don't really know why I put it off for so long because it was much easier to do than I thought. I'm actually pretty pleased with it, it was quite fun to put together collections of images again.
• Have you seen #100HappyDays photos floating around Instagram recently? I've been loving seeing everyone's different takes on it. Each time I see one I want to start one myself and even passively it makes me feel a little happier. I think I'm going to give it a go once the 1st February rolls around because I think it would feel a little more organised. Have you been doing it, I'd love to see your efforts.

After a huge Sunday pub lunch with Moon's dad this afternoon I'm feeling totally food coma'd, it's tomato and butterbean soup for tea tonight, something different that I can't wait to try.

Sunday, Sweet Sunday.

I've probably said this a million times before, but Sundays are my favourite day and more so as I've become older. They're made for being a bit sleepy and doing things because you want to rather than because you have to - the best incentive for carrying out any activity!

Having a full-time job means lie-ins for me now mean waking up at around half 8-9am - much to Moon's disgust - but I think it's great because I'm still well-rested but am really able to seize the day.

I know that's it's practically the weekend now but it's been super difficult to find time this week so here are some extra photos from our Sunday walk last weekend. Getting muddy and taking in such lovely autumnal colours isn't so bad.

There were other ones but the sun was crazy-bright and I looked all squinty.



Being one of the only decent places to walk a dog, Greenham Common is one of the best places for dogs spotting, ever!

Sometimes eavesdropping can be my downfall - I've decadently had two 'proper' hot chocolates since Sunday, so luxurious. ♥



I know the chicken looks a little weird, it's because we used the legs for curry about a week before.

You might have seen some similar ones in my Photo An Hour yesterday, but afternoons out like this make it so much fun to just snap away.

I'm so excited for this weekend, we're heading down to Brighton, my favourite city, tonight for comedy and are sleeping over ♥. The Christmas lights are going on tonight too so I think it's a definite excuse for a spot of shopping on Saturday!

Because we sell Christmas trees at work I've really tried to hold off feeling too excited too early, I know it's only November, but the Coca-Cola advert was on last week so I'm really getting into the festive spirit now. I've already bought my first bauble and am counting down the days until appropriate silly jumper and The Muppets Christmas Carol time. Only five more Tuesdays and it will actually be Christmas!
