Marlborough Mooch.

I'm never sure how current/instant blogging needs to be, which I think is why I'm more of a #latergram girl than posting right away. I'd rather take it in and think about it later... probably, or I'm just a bit lazy and like I said, it's been one of those weeks.

Even though it's over a week ago now, I just really wanted to share these snaps from Marlborough with you. I quite like Marlborough as a town, it's so pretty and old (and perfect at Christmas time). It might be the first time we've visited it when it hasn't been pouring with rain and it was nice to check out their nice, if precariously placed in the middle of the road, Saturday market. I think next time we visit we must have a visit up the church tower, which we would have for the £2 it cost were it not for the dull day.


We stumbled across this darling alleyway that we hadn't been down before, it had the cutest shops with the nicest window displays.













It's nice to have a local town that's just as good for a mooch as wandering up the town. I do like how Newbury is so close to so many places like that, it makes for interesting weekends even when we're not gallivanting off elsewhere.

You know one of those weeks where the last thing you want to do is sit in front of a computer when you get home? Yeah, well it's sort of been one of those. I'm kind of sad about that really because blogging is something I really do enjoy and I like to share pictures and thoughts, I guess it's a bit of a shame that I haven't been able to find the motivation lately.

With all that being said, I took quite a few pictures last Saturday and reckon I've managed to get a few posts out of that, the first one being my third 1 Day 12 Pictures Photo Challenge with Michelle from MY Creative and Emma from Photography for Blogs.

We had grand plans for last weekend and had been talking about them before it even hit Wednesday but then the weather decided to be indecisive and it put us off so we ended up on a short and sweet jaunt to the beautiful town of Marlborough with a pit-stop at Cobbs for the Pick Your Own on the way home. It was actually a really nice day, rounded up with a sweet date night and salted caramel Haagen Dasz (what a dream ♥).


1: 9am // Slightly unnervingly sweet behaviour from our little predator first thing in the morning. RIP to the little vole she brought in on Friday night.


2: 10am // It wouldn't be a Saturday without any plans without a little Saturday Kitchen.


3: 11am // Optimistically bopping into Marlborough for Mr Moon's first proper drive since we came back from Portugal.


4: 12pm // A little rain never hurt anyone...


5: 1pm // Marlborough's church is quite wonderful, not only is it pretty beautiful inside, it also features a large local crafts shop and tea room.


6: 2pm // Cobbs really does have the best Pick Your Own, I'm looking forward to heading back there once the raspberry and tayberry crops are better later in the summer.


7: 3pm // I went a little wild at Marlborough's Saturday market, but you can't blame me, their selection is quite something, not pictured is 4 plaice fillets we got for just £5! Their fruit and veg stall puts Newbury's to shame too, I must have come away with three carrier bags full of stuff for around £6.


8: 4pm // An accidental afternoon nap - a 20 minute power nap for me turned into a 2 hour sleep for Mr Moon, something he rarely does but clearly needed.


9: 5pm // Cranky boyfriend waking up to sort out what our dinner plans would be, I haven't seen him faff about so much in ages - wish I got a better picture of it.


10: 6pm // Dressing up and putting my face on.


11: 7pm // We had a lovely meal at a little Donnington pub called The Three Horseshoes. Neither of us were really into the menu but everywhere else was fully booked and we actually felt a little guilty for underestimating it so much. The food was really tasty and the service was great, there's not really much else you want for a relaxing Saturday evening.


12: 8pm //I requested a quick swing by Sainsbury's on the way home to search for this beaut, might be my new favourite ice cream flavour.
So that was my third #1day12pics and the first without any pre-planned events going on in the background, not bad going though, even if I do say so myself.

Catch Up.

Hello, since we last spoke, I've passed my driving test, eaten at lots of fancy places, cooked fun things and had a quite a few visitors - but I've also been sleep, really sleepy, and lazy, so pardon my absence but here are a few snapshots to show how my February has been.
It's really been far to cold for me to enjoy myself or find the motivation to take lots of photos as normal, I'm really looking forward to spring and sunny walks with flowers – and driving places, I'm sure I'll eventually find that fun too.


An inkling that spring is just around the corner.

We stumbled upon a nice record shop called 'Sound Knowledge' when wandering around Marlborough a few weeks ago, I love how many posters it has and the whole layout. Sadly HMV here in Newbz is the latest tragedy of the recession and is set to close soon, maybe Sound Knowledge will have to be our next point of call for physical music, not an unlikely possibility considering how much Mr Moon loves CDs.

Valentine's Day was lovely, we spent it at a cute little place that Moon spotted when we were coming back from Marlborough called The Pelican Inn. We were the youngest dining there by around 30 years, but the food was delicious and affordable. I was basically happy to have an obvious excuse to give my Topshop heart dress its second outing - I think I will wear it more when it's warmer though, it makes me feel so cute ♥

Starter: Beef fillet salad
Main: Free Range Chicken, Leek & Bacon
Dessert: Chocolate Fudge Brownie Sundae - one of the nicest puddings I've ever had, the brownie was so mushy, nom!


Ladies...

I was pretty pleased to get a little lot of cards congratulating me on passing my driving test, a bit weird but after the amount of time and effort (and money) I've spent on it, it was nice that people were willing to acknowledge my achievement. I particularly enjoyed the card that work did for me, a hilarious card filled with equally hilarious messages. I was so happy on the day I passed I could have kissed the examiner, it's just a shame is was probably the most unexciting man on the planet.

My sister's visit saw a lovely lunch out at Bill's - still a blogger favourite right, or I am I bit out of touch, I don't care if so as it's still one of my favourites all the same, we got such a great seat this time too.

My favourite recent purchase, I'm looking forward to finding the time to sit down and do it.

Bringing you (almost) bang up to date, Moon's mum paid us a visit yesterday so we took her over to Hare Hatch Sheeplands, where the showroom is for the company I work for, but there's so much more there too - there's even a petting zoo in the warmer months! There was a small, but cute craft fair and so many nice homewares I found hard to resist snapping up. I did go a bit mad in the farm shop though and came away with steak, pork pies and lots of other goodies, great for a last minute rummage for Moon's upcoming birthday.

The café at Sheeplands had lovely food, and will be great for spring, luckily Mrs Moon was able to get a coffee so she could be a bit less frozen even for the short time we were having lunch.

Such a huge part of me wanted this piggy tote, or this fabric somewhere in my life.

Next time I pop over I'll have to pick myself up some kind of animal garden ornament, they come in all shapes and sizes but this tiny pig was one of my favourites.

I've still got a few more things to share with you and February isn't quite over yet, but March is promising exciting things, like a new sofa, my own car and some lovely gatherings with friends - the latter has been distinctly lacking recently. Have you had a good February, I hope you've been a lot less frozen than I have, with snow trying to fall looks like there's not much sign of me wrapping up any less any time soon!
