Lavender Fields Forever.

Last weekend my sister came over to visit (probably for the last time before she's off to study in Hong Kong *sad*) so I drove us down the Alton for Hampshire Lavender's open day. I figured that given I'd been trying to persuade Moon to come with me to Hampshire Lavender Fields' open days for some time and it seemed less and less likely as time went on, having a guest was a pretty good excuse to head over.



My sister was probably overall as impressed as I would have expected Moon to have been but I think she appreciated the rows of lavender and the different varieties, plus the gift shop was pretty neat. It was a nice place to take photographs too, I'm a little gutted that I allowed for a fingerprint on my camera lens resulting in a few weird hazey bits in these pictures.


As well as lavender there was the most impressive selection of controlled wild flowers. So many colours! ♥



We didn't quite make the most of the £3 admission fee and didn't even have a go on the 'field tour' but we did spend a good hour there enjoying the hum of the bees.


When we went to the Wealden Times Midsummer Fair, my sister came away with a whole camera roll filled with flowers from their beautiful garden. I was probably just as bad but she was determined to not do the same this time, not sure how she got on with it but I'm assuming not well ;)

You can visit the on-site Lavender Fields Shop between Tuesday and Saturday and there are even (really intense sounding) tours you can do of the fields when the open days aren't on. Now let me tell you something for nothing, nobody, but nobody, likes lavender more than the people who supply products to the Lavender Fields shop.








Wash yourself with lavender, then wash your mouth out with it too!



I think this day out really make me realise that while I like lavender, I'm not into going to a site specifically for it... I'm pleased that I got to go though and I'm happy with the nice lavender-related products I got, including a candle, tasty biscuits and incense - the candle is the best! It wasn't quite a place to while away the afternoon but it was nice, I just enjoyed running my hands through the lavender ever few steps.

Right Here, Right Meow!

I'm really never sorry about lots of cats on my blog, in fact, the more cats the better, and that's tends to be a general life-rule. I actually feel like I've been trying to tone it down a little recently (although that's a matter of opinion) but I'm so pleased with these recent purchases from the Cats Protection Open Day, they're a pretty satisfactory consolation prize for not being able to bring a real cat home.

These two big guys now reside in my garden, I've found myself easily confusing the white one for my real cat when hanging the washing out, just as it enters my peripherals. I think they're so cute, I do long for the days of a knick-knack shelf, but the kitschy little blue-eyed one is sitting pretty on our bookshelf at the minute, a great accompaniment to my Turkish cat I got last year.






She's becoming quite the cheeky climber, while we were out the garden the other day she was even just relaxing in the tree, I see hunting on the horizon :O



Cat hair gets everywhere!

Have you found any neat must-haves at any jumble sales or car-boots lately? This was definitely a case of 'one person's junk is another's treasure' but was all the better for donating to charity at the same time.

I feel like I've been too busy so I haven't really had time to post anything post-Dry the River/Exeter. I spent most of Friday travelling down to Exeter for the university preview day yesterday and (shock-horror), I didn't bring my computer so I haven't been able to do much/also maybe missed out on a cool conference job.


So, Thursday night Moon came over and we had Chinese food and watched 'Billy Connolly's Route 66' before heading out to New Slang to watch the end of Worship and see Dry the River. The sound wasn't perfect at the Hippodrome but it was nonetheless an enjoyable gig, Peter Liddle's voice is so powerful and beautiful, I didn't even care that I barely knew half of the songs. I think I would like to go to New Slang more too.



I even bought a t-shirt, and Moon shook the bassist's hand! It was awkward and filled with fanboyism, but it was nice. I went for the horse one because I had to. They are actually very nice t-shirts and are very soft, plus I'll have a feeling of dickhead superiority until they break the big time.

Because I woke up late, basically the first thing I did the following day was head off to Exeter. I've been to Exeter a couple of times when I've been visiting Moon's Gran in Sidmouth and I quite like it, but because my sister is a genius, she'll probably have the privilege of going to the University there.

It's so nice it made me want to be sick, there are waterfalls and it's full of greenery and the halls are so modern, everything will probably be even better when they finish whatever building work they're carrying out at the moment. It was a full-on open day with lots of friendly students ready and willing to help out with questions about courses and the University in general. I don't even plan on returning to University ever and I was even falling in love with the place. We were supposed to go up to Warwick (because as I said my sister is a genius) next weekend but we're going to put it off while my sister get's over how smitten she is with Exeter.










Next week is looking far more empty that the previous two, with only a driving lesson and telephone interview to really look forward to, and a 'proper' job centre consultation... woo..
