Here's a bit of a snapshot of the weekend just gone. I realise that I've not shared anything with you from my Easter weekend, but I was super ill, so there's not much to tell. I did have a lovely time with my mum and went over to Canterbury to see my sister (in the car, on my own, it was a great success), but it wasn't very exciting as I couldn't really do anything fun without feeling worse and spent a lot of time basically feeling sorry for myself. Even the plans I had made with Moon for when I got home were thwarted and I spent most of the tail-end of the bank holiday sleeping. Not fun but I'm totally fine now and back on track.

So, I'm pretty pleased that I'm completely over being ill as I had my old friend Tom down to stay and it was so good to see him. It's always lovely having my oldest friends around me, firstly because I don't need to make too much effort but in a good way but also because it's just good to have a solid catch up on what's been going on and future plans, it's been over a year since we saw each other last. Moon and I have pencilled him into our calendar for a couple of months time so we won't be leaving it as long. It seems to be so difficult to get together with people sometimes, we have every intention of catching up with everyone but there's always so much to cram into the tiny space of weekend - after a proper look at my diary I've really only got two free weekends for the next 8 weeks as it is, no idea how that's happened, I would describe myself as the furthest from a social butterfly.

The more times we have people to stay in our little flat, the more I realise we ought to figure out the best hotspots so we have fun places to take guests. On Saturday we took Tom into Basingstoke for lunch and had our first ever Ed's Easy Diner, it was pretty tasty and the boys were in love with their burgers but it was the interior that had me impressed, and the fact I could pick songs out on the juke box and have them play almost straight away, for just 20p!

Today saw us carbooting, having an outdoor pub lunch and showing Tom the sights of Greenham Common, which is much nicer in the sun but needs more greenery and flowers. I'm so pleased Tom brought the sun for his visit - apparently we're due rain for the rest of the week! It could just do with being the tiniest bit warmer but I'm not complaining because I seriously feel like I'm lacking in Vitamin D.




I absolutely adore '50s music so it was tough but I managed to narrow it down to three choices!









It was so neat seeing all the cows properly out and about again, and they were so chill.

I hope you've been making the most of the sunshine, it feels like spring could actually be here! Bring on this week, whatever the weather, it's so good to be feeling 100% again.

My Favourite Old Lady.

I figured that I mention my cat, Doll so much but hardly ever talk about Suzie anymore. Suzie is our family cat, who was adopted full-time by my Gran when we were busy moving a few years ago. As she had her every need attended to, we decided to let her stay with my Gran, and in her older years I'd definitely say it's overall the better thing for her anyway.

We share a birthday so these were taken a couple of weekends ago when I was staying with my Gran. She's like my sister and the nicest cat, although Dolly's improving there's a lot she can learn from Suzie, who's now the grand old age of 17. She's been part of my life for such a long time and is always pleased to see me so it's hard to imagine how I'll feel when she's not around anymore but she's hanging in there well and truly as despite not being up to hunting (she's brought us in bats and even bunnies among the usual birds and mice!) and slowing up, she's a lot more with it than her age would imply. She's really easy to take photos of and likes nothing more than cuddling up on the nearest person's lap.

Fine day.

I had the nicest Sunday yesterday, filled with carbooting and taking in 'local culture', not to mention catching some sun. So much sun in fact, that Moon and I both ended up with a bit of sunburn, pretty shocking really considering we managed to evade it the whole time we were away. It was really good to spend some time together as we've been a bit ratty all week and I've been working evenings so we've hardly really seen each other.



We started off the day with a trip to Newbury Racecourse carboot, the last few times we've visited it's been shocking but this time it was overflowing with knick-nacks. I only picked up a book at a few DVDs, but for once it was actually worth the £1 entry fee, plus I mainly go to look at all the weird things people are trying to sell.

Moon was pleased that we finally found a copy of 'Armageddon' as I've yet to see it, here's hoping it works and isn't a dud.


We spotted this beast as we were leaving the racecourse, there's a lot going on with it to say the least.

I'm trying to get back into reading in a big way, although I'm not that far into '50 Shades of Grey' yet (I don't think I'm too interested in the others at the moment), I don't want to end up being stuck with nothing to read by the time I've finished it, so I'm planning ahead. I've already read this but so long ago that I think it deserves a re-read, I hope they show the stage adaptation at Vue.



Lunch was a bacon, egg and mushroom sandwich, so nomz! ♥



I spotted an ad for a carboot we'd seen advertised a few weeks ago but never investigated, as it was open until half 4, we decided to head over to Taplow and check it out. In hindsight, we definitely should get there earlier in future, even though we arrived with a few hours to spare, there were a lot of people packing up.


Apparently, driving barefoot is easier than driving in flip-flops.


Although there was a lot of furniture, no one had just the thing I'm currently looking for...

On our way back from Taplow Carboot, we stopped by the Newbury Waterways Festival. I was in my element and felt nostalgic for Malden Fortnight. The event was held on the Kennet & Avon canal as well as in adjacent Victoria Park. I've never seen so much homemade chutney and jam in one place, I'm also pleased to say I saw my first duck race too.

Who knew that this was a thing? Apparently it is though and it was kind of fun to hear and see the crowds get so into it.

I know this last one doesn't fit in with the others but this was my only carboot find at Taplow, for £3, I'm excited to use it as it takes the same film as my other Fujifilm polaroid and it looks just as odd.

I think things like this are exactly what Sundays were made for. Today has been all about a bit of interview-prep and doing chores.
