Film Club | August

I made it to 80 films in August, which isn't bad even if that does mean I only watched seven. I think I've been wandering off doing other things and hey, August has been pretty busy. This month is definitely the most eclectic yet, even for a selection that isn't that big.

Most Favourite: Kill List – This might not be to everyone's taste but I really enjoyed it. It was so grippy and the ending gets really creepy. Despite the fact that it ends abruptly, which is something that only ends up making it more creepy, I'd say there are very few negatives. Starring 'that one from Utopia' (which I actually don't care for), he really pulls it off and it really gave me a good fix of tense thriller that I've been after.

Least Favourite: Transcendence – THIS FILM WAS SO STUPID! The science, even if you put that aside and try and enjoy it as a futuristic fantasy, is so plain ridiculous it's really hard to ignore. I must say, Johnny Depp does a good job of being a monotonous computer-man but I found myself getting so bored that in the end I was falling asleep. I know I've picked this when I could have picked Sharknado 2 (a film I also fell asleep watching) but I felt so strongly about how good this could have been that it was so totally ruined by that.

Weekend Cures.

After a heavy Saturday night out I think few things can cure what ails you than a bit of raspberry picking followed by a Sunday roast. Cobbs, I don't think you'll ever let me down ♥

Nacho Nacho :: Chilli Fiesta.

On our travels to the Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary we discovered the delights of Millets Farm Centre. With their Chilli Fiesta falling on the same weekend that we had visitors, it was ready-made entertainment, a definite no-brainer.

After stopping for delicious lunch of barbecue pulled pork baps in the Millets Farm Centre restaurant, we had a mosey around the festival. The free samples were laid on in spades and naturally a bit of 'ladness' came into it, with silly old Richard trying the 'World's Hottest Chilli' and crying about it (because he couldn't help it, not because he was sad).

There were a lot of 'chilli-heads' there and even though I love spicy food as it's the first one I've been to, you can't help but feel a little timid about what you try.



So pretty, I just know our limited gardening skills would end up killing them off though.



Moon tricked me into eating this one saying it tasted like lemon, which to be fair it did... lemon and fire!



I may not have had the hottest chilli in the world like this champ but I was definitely glad milk was available.

Millets Farm Centre for what it is is great, I can't believe it's just over 20 minutes away from us and we've never been before a couple of weeks ago. Complete with a cute collection of farm animals, we actually ended up spending so much time there that we missed out on the second round of the donkey sanctuary.





It was a fun afternoon out and even though one of our guests was in tears at one point, I like to think we did a pretty stand up job at showing them a nice afternoon.

How Pinteresting!

I've been using Pinterest for a little over two years now and I tend to dip in and out, pinning everything for a two week period and then ignoring it for a month or two.

I think really I'm like that with most things online, and some days computers, phones and gadgets are just not the one. That said, Pinterest can be a really great place to invigorate the mind and inspire, whether it's soothing a bit of wanderlust or finding something new to cook, there are times when it's become a bit of a go-to.

Without wanting to say similar things to what has already been said, I thought I'd just share a few of my favourite pins from August with you.

I'm still not sure where I'll be going with this but it's just some more of me trying to put some things out there and get something other than photographs of days out up here. Diary posts are nice but I always think of this place as an online scrapbook.



1 // Blue Lagoon, Iceland :: I've still got that long-lasting hankering for an Icelandic break, not sure if our money-diet will allow it as the deadline we set ourselves is drawing nearer, so beautiful photographs might have to do it for now.
2 // 'A Better 'Yes' Down the Road' :: Definitely helps with some recent uncertain feelings.
3 // Vitamin Boosting Juices :: I was big into smoothies and the like a couple of months ago, I think I want to get back into it. Changes of the season and upheavals in life usually bring illness and I'd like to prevent that, please.
4 // Silhouettes on Colourful Curtains :: Design.Love.Fest never fails to inspire when it comes to photo shoots and this is just some really lovely styling. That's the kind of thing that makes me long to 'do Photography' again.

Happy Monday! Let's kick the week off with my first ever giveaway shall we?

Last year I was lucky enough to receive complimentary tickets to the Royal Berkshire County Show. It was such a great day out and I can only recommend that you make the time to go this year if you can.

There are so many animals to meet (including baby chicks that are due to hatch live) and the food tent is spectacular, if you like your craft and food fairs then this is definitely one for you as it's the biggest in Berkshire and is definitely the biggest I've ever been to.

Unfortunately, I'll be heading over to the Isle of Wight during the same weekend this year but the organisers of the show have been kind enough to donate a pair of tickets for a give-away right here!
So, if you happen to live in Berkshire, are in the area that weekend or just fancy a break to the beating metropolis of Newbury then all entries are welcome and I really look forward to snooping at your pictures once you're there.

Throughout the day there are equestrian displays, classic car showcases, a motorbike stunt show and even a cattle championship. There are lots of places to eat and shop and you're sure to have a fun and action packed day
