GIVEAWAY: Win Tickets to the Royal Berkshire County Show

Happy Monday! Let's kick the week off with my first ever giveaway shall we?

Last year I was lucky enough to receive complimentary tickets to the Royal Berkshire County Show. It was such a great day out and I can only recommend that you make the time to go this year if you can.

There are so many animals to meet (including baby chicks that are due to hatch live) and the food tent is spectacular, if you like your craft and food fairs then this is definitely one for you as it's the biggest in Berkshire and is definitely the biggest I've ever been to.

Unfortunately, I'll be heading over to the Isle of Wight during the same weekend this year but the organisers of the show have been kind enough to donate a pair of tickets for a give-away right here!
So, if you happen to live in Berkshire, are in the area that weekend or just fancy a break to the beating metropolis of Newbury then all entries are welcome and I really look forward to snooping at your pictures once you're there.

Throughout the day there are equestrian displays, classic car showcases, a motorbike stunt show and even a cattle championship. There are lots of places to eat and shop and you're sure to have a fun and action packed day

Wealden Times Midsummer Fair

When Rosie (from Cider with Rosie emailed me to let me know I was one of the winners of her competition for tickets to the Wealden Times Midsummer Fair, I was pretty darn pleased. If you've followed me for a while, or even if you haven't, you'll probably be aware that fairs are pretty much my bag - I love testing samples in food tents, eyeing up fancy crafts and of course, if it's a good fair, dog spotting.

Not only was it a chance to spend a day at a fair anyway, but it was in a pretty beautiful part of the country too. My sister is actually at university in Canterbury but I've only been to visit her a couple of times and not for long enough to really appreciate the Garden of England. It's probably the former that made her seem like a pretty good choice as my guest, plus she has to fill her days with something now she's lounging around having 'summer holidays'.

Over to the Garden.

After the many successes of last year, I've been waiting for summertime to roll around for a long time now. If not for the warmer weather, lighter evenings and alfresco dining then definitely for all the fairs and county shows there are to check out.

When the lovely Rosie from Cider with Rosie got in touch with me to let me know I was lucky enough to win her competition to head over to the Wealden Times Midsummer Fair I was only too happy to jump at the chance.

So that's where I'm off to with my sister tomorrow and I can't wait, expect pictures, I'm really looking forward to the food tent(!)

YFC Berkshire Country Fayre 2014.

I can't believe how terribly miserable the weather has been recently. We were lucky enough to spend at least one day of the Bank Holiday in the sunshine, Moon's poor forehead even got sunburnt, similar to when we were at the same fair last year, will he ever learn?






We headed over towards Theale with our friends Tim and Laura for our second go at the Young Farmer's Club Berkshire Country Fayre. I'm afraid I have to start by saying that the weather really did make a difference and we enjoyed it a bit more last year, just because it was actually warm then and we found ourselves getting a bit chilly.

Also, since the fayre moved this year just a little way up the round the the Englefield Estate it didn't have as much going for it as when we attended the previous year. That said, I was mainly excited that every other person seemed to have a dog and spotting dogs is one of my favourites, especially when their owners are more than happy to let you pet them(!) ♥






I picked up one of those mice for Doll, it's her new favourite thing.



The Flyball was the best thing.















Last time we were a little sad that we missed out on a few of the events but this year there wasn't all that much to miss. Most of the displays consisted of a rushed 'interview' before whatever was on display was swiftly whisked out of the main arena before the 'next act' - no over-the-top 4x4 display for us this year!

The craft and food tents seemed much smaller too, and I think that's a real shame given that was the main reason I was excited to go. I guess there were parts of the day where we found ourselves getting a bit bored, even if it was nice to get out in the sunshine and pet all the dogs. I'm more looking forward to the grand event that is the Berkshire County Show in September now, as well as being excited for the Wealden Times Midsummer Fair in a couple of weeks thanks to winning tickets from Cider with Rosie.

On the Farm.

We had a couple of our favourite Londoners visit us over the Bank Holiday weekend, so naturally I went out of my way to find the most country-mouse activity available. This time I picked a lambing day at Amners Farm, where we went to the Berkshire Country Fayre last year and while it wasn't on quite the same scale, as whiling away a couple of hours go, it was pretty great.

Anywhere where I can get my hands on baby animals is always going to be a winner with me but being outdoors in the sunshine and seeing all the baby lambs really was really lovely.

I guess I'll stop posting pictures of funny farm animal faces eventually, but I don't think it's going to happen any time soon.
