Changing Skies.

With colder mornings and evenings setting it, it seems as though the Indian summer we were promised isn't really going to happen either, fingers crossed still, but the sun rising later and setting earlier does have its visual perks.
Theres's definitely a change in mood that comes with seasonal changes, it all makes me really look forward to a new winter coat and chunky knits - even if not just yet.

Here are some photos I took of the sunset the other day, I haven't seen many nice sunsets lately so I was a little late getting home for taking these, woops!

Today I've been going between Christmas trees, rabbit hutch descriptions and red velvet cake.

Tuesday Tabs #32

I guess I kind of skipped out last week's Tuesday Tabs, for no good reason either, because I enjoy making them for my benefit, I guess it just got thrown to the wayside thanks to all the other things I posted about last week.

This fish bowl ('Bubble Tank') from Sheffield studio Psalt Design is beautiful, while being a little nerve racking at the same time. What a lovely home for fish, their designs definitely make me think getting some goldfish is a great idea, Doll makes me remember otherwise.

Polka Dot Cat Print Lady Tie, Flapper Girl
How cute is this lady tie? There's nothing bad about polka dots or kittens.

Moose Necklaces, Finest Imaginary
I find it pretty hard to resist acrylic animal necklaces and the wood with acrylic antlers look really great.

Cat Care Print, Ink and Sword
Can anyone tell I'm a little gutted I couldn't make it to the Renegade Craft Fair last weekend? I've had a quick browse of the sellers and have already found some real gems, this cute pet poster being one of them, such neat graphic design.

Cat & Wing Print Tights, Oasap
These kitty tights are almost too much to handle.

Deena & Ozzy Tan Marta Vintage Boots, Urban Outfitters
It's the perfect time to be on the hunt for the perfect pair of autumn boots. I have been for a while because of the sad August we had, and I've got quite a collection to choose from. I love the different textures of this pair.

One of two songs I'm addicted to this week, I hope they release an album soon.
It's nice to school myself up before seeing them at Gathering next month.

The second song I'm loving, I know it's a little old now, but I recently found it through Last.fm Radio, brilliant for finding new music. The video is so fun, and the song just makes me so happy, perfect for our mini-road trip to Cornwall this weekend.

Link Love:
  • Berkley Illustration — These animal portraits from Berkley Illustration are beautiful, definite must haves for my little flat! But so many to choose from.
  • How Movie Theatres Should Be Laid Out by The Oatmeal — I guess part of me does miss working at Vue, it's really tiny though, and my job satisfaction in my current job is much higher and I don't cry before shifts... because I don't have 'shifts'! This sums up the main stuff about cinemas that I complain about, both as an employee and a customer, I couldn't agree more.
  • Pack This! Check List — I've seen a few similar pads with this kind of design floating around, I think this would be the most useful to me as I often get a little stressed from packing, although living out of a suitcase while going between Moon's, my Gran's, Home and Portsmouth has meant I've become a little better, graphically this is so fun.
  • DIY Papercraft Balloon Mobile — I seriously need to find the time to be more crafty, despite good intentions, I've only really glanced at my Craft Creatives #2 box, silly really. I've been really into mobiles lately, there seem to be so many nice ones around and they make a nice change from hanging pictures on the walls, not that I don't totally love that too!

    To The Garden of England!

I don't mean to have neglected you as much as I have lately, but there have been a few contributing factors to this. I'm quite tired most of the week and when I'm not, I want to just relax without thinking about anything, a lot of my job involves sitting at a computer - not that there's anything wrong with it, I'm just trying to settle on how to balance my downtime appropriately, as well as spend quality time with Moon. Also, I do enjoy sharing things with you, but I felt like I was getting a little same-y, not that much fun to write so I can't imagine that much fun to read. I'm hoping this short break will have cleared my head a little, plus I'm feeling really fresh this week.

With a short trip to Cornwall this weekend, hopefully there will enough to stop either of us getting bored and clear my head a little.

In other, less rambling, news, I helped move my little sister over to the University of Kent last weekend. I sure wish it wasn't so far away as Canterbury looks like a lovely place to wander around, it just makes me more determined to finally get my driving test passed so I can go visit her without a boring/long train journey in between. This weekend made me realise how I miss my family quite a lot while being all independent and grown all the way over in Newbury. Don't get me wrong, they drive me crazy and I love where I am right now, but it's nice to have them with me rather than at the end of the telephone sometimes. It doesn't help how difficult it is to get back by public transport, especially on a Sunday, another problem of a non-driver.

It might just be me being a little emotional because my sister is actually embarking on the beginnings of becoming an adult, which is weird, because even though I know she isn't, she basically always will be 13. I just hope she gets on okay, at least she didn't cry when we left her, a much better job than I did when I was left at Portsmouth.

The University of Kent campus is way out away from the main city, not something I'm used to as a graduate of a University that's so integrated into a city. Saying that, there seems to be a lot going on, especially if you love controlled fun, which freshers do. It's quite green and I saw squirrels, I think my sister will be very happy there.

Sunset on Friday night on the way back to New Malden.

My sister's room is an alright size for a halls room, and I'm pretty envious of the amount of shelves she has. I'm sure it looks much less like a prison cell now she's unpacked and has had some time to put more of a personal stamp on it.

The car park view from her window is much nicer than the car park I looked out on from my halls. So leafy.

She's catered, so she has a dining hall, and although that's kind of lame, I think it's kind of cool for two reasons, it almost looks like a church and she gets to see this view every morning.

We picked up lunch from Origins in the Darwin block (clever name, eh?), it was really reasonably priced and I ate so much, standard.

There was a man doing piano covers of songs, from the Harry Potter theme to Mumford and Sons it was quite nice. If anyone knows who he is, it would be neat to know more about him.

All the grinning volunteers made it a little, but not really, like Disneyland.

When we got back from Kent, my mum cooked me this, I'll put this right up there with reasons I miss her sometimes. Doesn't help that we've yet to find a decent Chinese take-away or restaurant since moving here.

It's quite weird to me that University began a whole five years ago now, and I got out alive, maybe even a different person.
Time goes so quickly sometimes, but good luck to this year's freshers, it's a lot of fun, I reckon you'll enjoy it.

    In My Own Back Yard.

Here are some photos of how Moon and I spent our fragile Sunday last weekend. I know it's a little late but I've so sleepy and busy lately, and anyway, it's better late than never, right?

We took a drive over to Donnington Castle, which is only about 10 minutes away from us, it really is lovely when you find somewhere so nice so close to home, exactly how I felt about Richmond Park when I was back in New Malden. It's so quiet up there, which was perfect for our post-barbecue heads, we took a picnic which is something we haven't done in forever, and there were so many neat dogs .

Donnington Castle being free is a great big tick against it, and I appreciate the amount of risk, but it really would be a helluva lot cooler if we'd been allowed inside.

I promise that it was a real picnic with real lemonade and sandwiches and everything. We were just too ravenous to be picturesque about things.

    See?

We ended up at this abandoned cow shed, which had sofas in it, it was a little odd.

As we walked back to the castle there was a wedding party acting out some silly but adorable scene for their wedding tape.
Weddings just seem so awkward for the main participants.

It was pretty cool being able to see our house (Newbury Racecourse) from all the way up there.

Sometimes I see photos of Moon and I want to squish his face. *vom
