Light It Up.

It's pretty likely that I'm a little late to the fireworks party, especially as most displays will have been and gone by now, but here are my Bonfire Night photograph efforts.

We popped over to Chieveley for their firework display on 5th November and found the best pub in Ye Olde Red Lion for a dinner, honestly, I know you can't really go wrong with belly pork but this was ah-may-zing!

I think Chieveley's display is the biggest near us and although the fireworks didn't last all that long and their bonfire was tiny, it was a good display and I even saw a few bangers that I don't think I've seen before. Plus Catherine wheels, the best!

Loved the atmospheric full moon, I think I could really get better at photographing it if I put a bit of time in to it.

We've actually been meaning to have our own firework display since last year and have a selection of Lidl's finest in the 'cat cupboard' in our kitchen. I hope to definitely make the effort, at least by New Year's - if they even still work!

How Pinteresting #3.

Halloween and Bonfire Night are over, which means Christmas is coming, and for the last few weeks I've been researching different fonts for Christmas cards and cute wrapping ideas, I can't help it – I guess I'm just the kind of person who really does love Christmas.

Christmas is going to be pretty great this year, it looks to be the first one that I'll be spending officially at my mum's house, we won't be having turkey and it will be the first time I'll be seeing my sister since August - Facetime and Skype only do so much of the job - I'm really looking forward to it more than usual and there are lot of other festive things to take in before the big day too!

As well as Christmas and thinking about how to wrap presents I haven't even bought, I've been wrapping myself up - frosty mile-long walks from the car into work don't really allow you to make a choice about that part - and thinking about all kinds of winter warming food.

1 // Wrapped + Sewed Christmas Wrapping – Love the idea of shaping gifts into fun Christmassy shapes. I don't think I'd get away with this kind of intricate wrapping with Little Doll around (she's quite the helper) but isn't it adorable?
2 // The Perfect Chicken Noodle Soup – Another easy-to-pin recipe from the delightful, Design Love Fest, I really like this simple twist on traditional chicken noodle soup, the photo-styling is pretty great too.
3 // To the Moon & Back Playroom – Pinterest is a goldmine for cute kid's clothes and great playrooms. I know I'm not at that part of my life, but actually that's not the point, I'd rather have some of these spaces just for myself.
4 // Steamy Kettle – I've been wanting to try photographing steam myself but this photo, even though I've got a (less romantic) electric kettle, sums up my feels for November weekends perfectly.

Norwich Weekender.

Remember when I mentioned that November is a bit of a whirlwind of events? Yep, that.

I'm still really into keeping this space up to date and fit for the purpose of sharing memories, but hobbies and full-time jobs don't necessarily always go hand-in-hand, particularly if you have a house to keep and food shopping and laundry to do on top of that. Being an adult is boring and hard.

Every now and then I tend to get a bit like that but I'm still here lurking. Here are the last few photos from mine and Moon's city break to Norwich a couple of weekends ago.

Norwich is a great city, I was pretty impressed at how much we actually managed to take in given we only really had one day to explore. It's a good for shopping, and I don't mean that in that it has what everywhere else has, it has a really nice mixture of chain and independent shops and there are so many different places to explore. Snooper's Paradise in Brighton might just be trumped by the wonderful Loose's as my new favourite thrift shop of all time.

The Forum had these great pumpkins for Halloween.

Unfortunately we weren't able to go inside Norwich Cathedral as they were holding a communion when we stopped by but we walked all around the pretty grounds to make the most of it.

Such pleasing exteriors.

I saw so many fig trees!

Or apple salt and pepper shakers...

Maud, the Birdcage's resident cat.

I definitely don't think this will be my last intentional trip to Norwich, my main regret is that we didn't get to have a cocktail at The Birdcage as our hotel was pretty far out of the city, so you know, I've got to go back and do that!

Film Club | October

October felt like the longest month, probably because of all the changes swirling around but I still managed to squeeze in a few films with this month being a bit more related to my choosing and films Moon wouldn't watch with me since we spent a bit more time apart than usual.

It has felt a bit like my selections have been getting smaller and smaller but I'm quite pleased to see that I might at least make it to the 100-mark before the year is out.

  1. Obvious Child
  2. Maps to the Stars
  3. What If
  4. The ABCs of Death

  1. Boyhood
  2. Lilting
  3. Lucy

Most Favourite: Obvious Child — It's strange that such a thing as an 'abortion comedy' can exist but Obvious Child really pulled it off. At it's heart it's a sweet story about a girl who has pretty much every aspect of her life go wrong at the same time on top of finding out that she's pregnant. I found it a pretty honest portrayal of the emotional situation the main character, played by the adorable Jenny Slate, found herself in and with abortion not being something that's affected me, I can definitely relate to having 'one of those weeks'. As well as being cute, fresh and funny, the leading man is, without meaning to sound lame, hella cute like omg, I could smoosh his face!

Least Favourite: The ABCs of Death — For some reason or another this popped under my radar and a fan of the ever-so-similar VHS franchise, I figured it might be worth a watch. The premise of the film is to assign 26 film makers a letter where they pick a theme surrounding death and go with it. Some of them are funny, some of them are vile but the whole film is pretty darn awful. I don't think it came together that well at all and with some of the films getting more screen time than others there was often too little time to explain what you'd actually just witnessed (there's one with furries, urgh). I hear their making a sequel, but I think that sounds like something to avoid.

Honourable Mention: Boyhood – Boyhood has been the most hyped film I've watch pretty much all year post-awards season, and actually I think that's what ruined it for me. The best part was seeing Richard Linklater really honour his craft and put love into this project, it's so evident in almost every shot but the story just didn't get there for me. I love that due to the time span of 10 years, we're treated to pop-culture references throughout but the actual 'boy' kind of emerges to be a bit lame and I found myself really not caring what happened to him, maybe it's just me though. It's a pretty hefty watch at almost 3 hours long and I'm glad I stuck it out to find out what the fuss was about but it just is what it is and I can't find myself getting excited by it.
