#782

This is a blog showcasing a few photos from my Easter Weekend. It's definitely all come crashing back to reality. I am so ill, and so are the rest of my family, apart from about two of them. Now when the twins are grown up, all I will remember of my first encounter with them is how they gave me the worst stomach bug I've had in forever, damn child germs, I've been in bed all day. I'm only emerging because I feel slightly better, not normal, but a bit better, still incredibly achey.

I'd like to ask for forgiveness in advance, the photos from when I was out at the pub were particularly blurry because for some reason I set the ISO to just 400, which doesn't mix well with dingy pub lighting. I hope you had a good Easter bank holiday and aren't seeing in the post-holiday period riddled with disease.

This is from Thursday's quiz, where we came second! Due to it being busy, we won a grand total of £15 in prize money. It's going back on tomorrow's quiz, which I hope I'll be better for.

I was pretty unhappy when I wore these on their first outing but now their probably the second-comfiest pair of flats that I own.
Thanks, ASOS.

This is all the freebie salad Moon was given from work. I must say that it's a perk I didn't know that I wanted, but one that I enjoy. Isn't the packaging devine? It received great reviews from my family when it was served on Easter Monday, a lot tastier than 'standard salad' apparently, so there you go.

My Gran has been going through her old slides, apparently from the late 60s to early 70s she doesn't really have any physical prints as everything she shot was on slides. I've mentioned before my admiration for my Gran's photography skills, and it was a really neat and communal way to look at the images. The projector is from Boots and still going strong from when Gran was shooting all these photographs, the photo-geek in me was more than impressed. She also has a hand-held projector, which looks something like this, but after it was repaired, some numpty broke it again, it was a bit hit though and another interesting way to take in photographs.

I honestly didn't spend every evening in a pub, this was a funny old night.

On Sunday, Moon, Chris and I drove over to Pease Pottage's car boot, which I'm sure would be incredibly if we hadn't picked one of the drizzliest days ever. I'm hoping that if this coming Sunday offers up some warmer weather, I'll be able to snap up some bargains.

I kept leaving my window open and Moon kept being cross. ♥

Chris' mum asked him to get some parsnips, Pease Pottage didn't have any. Am I wrong to think aubergines are more obscure than parsnips?

Like I said, sorry for the terrible pub photos, but this burger was delicious, no one else really liked theirs.

I picked up these from Dorking's carboot, they were vile, I've firmly learnt my lesson.

Who would have guessed that such adorable people could essentially wipe out an entire family.

Urgh, back to my pit I go. I only hope that Moon wasn't another victim, he doesn't take being ill very well and it's only the second week in his new job. We're getting reference forms for the flat sent out this evening, our move date is as early as the 15th, I don't think it will not be weird until I'm actually living there.

Photo A Day April: Day 09

Day 09 — Younger You

I think these are pretty self-explanatory, I hold major contempt for the middle image, my face looks so stupid.

Family Finds.

Last week I was having a huge clean out of drawers and under my bed (making sure there wasn't hidey-holes under my bed for the cat to poop or throw up in) and I found a mass of old family photos that I haven't seen in a long time. They were great to add to the hundreds more that I found a couple of weeks previous to that when I cleaned out a box in my wardrobe that I haven't touched since we moved here.

I thought I would share them with you because I thought some of them had a lot of photographic merit and were really nice on top of just being good family photos. My sister also dug out a few of my Dad that my Gran gave her before I moved home and they're so great, as well as some letters that he wrote to my Great Grandma thanking her for Christmas and birthday presents, it really made me feel close to him again. There were also a few of my Grandparents before they were my Grandparents and back when they were just my Dad's parents. I don't care what anyone says, Grandparents are the coolest.

See? The coolest.

Santa and Dad, Belfast, 1964
This is a photo of my Dad visiting Santa at around the age of four, apparently he was taken there by a neighbour, I don't blame his face. I'm particularly fond of the sinister hand to the left of the photo. Someone actually thought that this would make a great child portrait, and it does in way I suppose...

Me, Fairways, Dorking.
Always in the best outfits, and the worst hats.

Left: Me with my first and only hamster, Sassy. She was really old for a hamster when she died and Suzie was sad and alerted everyone when it happened; despite the fact that Suzie had tormented her for almost the entire time we had her.
Right: The first time I dipped my toe in the sea, Newcastle, Northern Ireland.

Left: Being a total boss.
Right: Someone involved in the making of this image didn't know their left from their right.

When Suzie was as ridiculous-looking as Dolly is now. Nowadays she's still a beaut but is looking a bit more mature.

I wonder if it looks like I've had a menagerie of pets, because that is simply not the case. We've had a hamster, two rabbits and two cats, three if you include Dolly. All of them were ancient and Suzie is still going now. Sadly, Felix, the cat pictured, either ran away or was taken from us. He was the best cat and used to hang out around my shoulders, he was massive but was such a softie and would take a helluva lot of guff from Suzie when she didn't fancy playing mother to him.

Felix, The Coach House, Capel.

This is probably the weirdest photo I found, the more I look at it the more things I notice and the stranger it gets. I like it but mainly because it's weird.

Lucy & Dad.
This is probably my all-time favourite family photo, everything about it is perfect.

I perhaps realised three things during making this selection to share with you.
1.) I was nearly always grumpy when I was younger, or very serious at best.
2.) My Gran takes some of the best photos; most of the ones she's handed down to us are rejects from the ones she keeps in frames or albums at her house and they're still awesome.
3.) I'm quite glad that my life so far has had such a mixture of normality and oddness.

Vice/Creators Fail.

It is a fail on my part too though; after having to send my address to them and them knowing that I am to receive 5 tickets for the Creators Project before they even had the first draw for the London exhibition last month, they have now sent me an email saying my name is on the door for Saturday. Oh, well that's great but someone else can have them then, I can't go, don't want to go (lie) and you are quite poorly organised. I guess guestlist might mean something important but I hope it doesn't.

I guess it doesn't bother me too much anyway because I don't look like this;

...so I'm not entirely sure I would fit in and as I would have most likely been on my own, that is kind of a big deal.
I also have no comfortable shoes with me at the moment, my feet are so sad. This will not help me tomorrow either.

I don't think I've mentioned that Moon won some tickets to Guilfest, so I do get to go after all, not that I think I ever said I was dying about going anyway, but it's always good fun and if it does turn out that Moon was scammed by some 65DOS faker, we can walk round Guildford instead - this is no comparison btw. I am worried I will be disappointed by it because at Glasto I was walking around comparing - with Guilfest being the only other festival I'd been to before - and it's hardly surprising who came out on top. Guilfest is more expensive in nearly every single away apart from admission price, in any case I will probably still have a fun time and if I don't - because it's obviously going to rain - then at least I can come home to a nice hot shower and a nice warm bed.

Here are a few of my favs from previous Guilfests; I will now have been four years in a row, even if we're only going for the day tomorrow.
