And breathe...

When your colleague suggests taking in some lunchtime culture it's a difficult opportunity to pass up. When you find out that that culture involves an exhibition where 'a lady breathes on some paper and shows the results', it's difficult to get excited about it. With that being said, you can sort of find yourself regretting that initial feeling.

'And Breathe...' at the Old Fire Station showcases part of Jayne Wilton's 'Drawing Breath' body of work, in which she creates physical, ephemeral sculptures from human breath. It's much less gross than it sounds and it was actually kind of beautiful.

[Drawing Breath]

It's been ages since I've visited an art exhibition much less found any new art that I actually enjoy. Sometimes finding things visually pleasing can boil down to something as simple as whether you would hang it on your own wall, and I definitely would. 'Sing 1 & 2' were my favourites in particularly though I really liked the simplicity of the whole exhibition.

'And Breathe...' is a small exhibition of just 7 pieces but I'd definitely recommend visiting if you're around Oxford before 14th November.

Arts at the Old Fire Station has a range of shows and exhibitions throughout the year, as well as featuring an adorable shop featuring work from independent UK artists and designers and hosting workshops and classes, it's a really neat public space.

'And Breathe...' runs until 14th November 2015 at the Old Fire Station gallery, Tuesday - Saturday, 11am - 6pm, and it's free!

Have you seen any inspiring art exhibitions lately?

Photo An Hour #1: 30/07.

I've been meaning to give this a go for ages, and I actually really enjoyed it, so I might give it another try in the future. I wasn't doing anything that exciting on Monday, except for catching up on personal admin and enjoying my day off relaxing. I quite enjoyed focussing in on smaller details though, it will be really fun to try when I'm really busy. I'm just assuming the rules are to take a photo every hour for 12 hours, I've adjusted them slightly and added two that I hope compliment each other.

I've spent today mucking around with my layout and details, but I won't ramble and will just show you these photographs and let them speak for themselves. I do enjoy a good photo-challenge.

You should check out The Dainty Squid for the best 'Photo An Hour' posts, so inspiring and one of my favourite blogs.

4pm: My most detested of tasks - sorting out my wardrobe, I don't even know how it gets like this.

5pm: Moon came home and flopped on the couch to regale me with tales of his day at work.

Photo A Day April: Day 19-20

You've caught me on the worst days, I've been so super-busy that both of these are terrible cop-outs because I've been so majorly distracted, still... I figured I'd share these with you because it will feel like a rounder number when I come back, yes that's how I do things.
Day 19 — 'Orange'

Here's the orange section of my keyboard, I picked up these decals from eBay after seeing them on The Dainty Squid. It's funny that I didn't see much orange yesterday, and if I did, the 6am wake up and overall excitement probably tired me out so much I just didn't notice. My laptop was on the floor because I was on the verge of some kind of crisis involving where to pack things from my desk, yep.

Day 20 — 'Something you drew'

When I first saw this I thought it would be a great excuse to draw something as I don't draw as much as I should. Sadly, you've just caught me at the wrong time - I said I would be super-busy - and this is the closest thing that's come to drawing something today. I'm such a list-maker, I think it helps my general disposition if it's just physically there. So this is a list of most of the things we'll probably need for our first shop. Not sure what it says about me that a mop and bucket literally take highest priority.

I present to you, Lenny Henry.

He is "big" and the budget for the programme was clearly blown on his costume as "small" is just a sock puppet. I hate children's television today.
My scanner doesn't like colour it seems.
