Film Club | June

June in film definitely feels like a bit of a non-event, I think the combination of being outside a bit more, focussing on other things and going on holiday have not made for a very good sitting down and relaxing with a good movie environment (+ Orange is the New Black Season 2 came out). I managed to get five in this month though, which is still more than one a week (sort of) so I'm not going to be too hard on myself.

  1. A Million Ways to Die in the West
  2. The Lincoln Lawyer
  3. Mindscape
  4. A Long Way Down
  5. Bad Neighbours

Most Favourite: A Million Ways to Die in the West: My love of Seth MacFarlane-related things has gone down as I've grown older and programmes like Family Guy don't really tickle me in the way they used to - I think mainly because I'm a Simpsons girl through and through. A Million Ways to Die in the West did get me though, it looked pretty good in the trailers but it's so much funnier than that. There are musical numbers, numerous cameos and even a Barney Stinson reference, to top that off the scenery is pretty breathtaking, I'd love to visit the Wild West. If you didn't like Ted, give this one a chance, it's heaps better and aside from a few weed jokes, it's a really decent comedy film.

Least Favourite: Bad Neighbours: I kind of wish that Seth Rogen didn't feel the need to grow up, I mean what is that about? This film is one of those ones where the best bits are in the trailer, which is always a shame. I don't really get whose side you're meant to be on so there's not much point, plus, again with the stoner jokes, why does that have to creep in everywhere, it's just lazy. Zac Efron and Dave Franco aren't too bad in it but I was just equal measures of stressed and bored.

Photo An Hour: 6/12 – June.

28th June 2013

I'm incredibly aware of how it's actually July now, I mean, what?! It seems June was another month where I had 'Photo An Hour' at the back of my mind a bit without making any proactive effort to do it. What more unique, and better place to do one though than Glastonbury? - because I can't possibly bore you enough with it in upcoming posts...
Glastonbury is somewhere that's pretty difficult to keep track of time, luckily - like the prepared camper I am, I had a watch on me, you know, so I'd know when what bands were on and things.

These were taken on the first 'official' day of Glastonbury, as those not-in-the-know see it anyway.

10am // Excuse the late wake-up, all the walking had me being a bit of a late riser considering I'd essentially been outside as the sun came up. This is two days without a shampoo in, so dry shampooing was a definitely start-of-the-day-must.

11am // I must admit to being a little disappointed in the change of toilet layout around our camp this time, felt like far too many to one loo, not something to look forward to first thing in the morning - especially as it's like Russian roulette with those queues.

12pm // Breakfast/lunch from Salad Days in the form a chicken wrap. It was very good, so not bad going for a food stand in sight of the Other stage - proof that good fonts are an easy way to reel me in.

1pm // We picked up a neat free bag from The Guardian, here is Moon modelling it unawares.

2pm // Checking out the Farmer's Market in the Greenpeace Fields, Moon got me a delicious raspberry crème brûlée tart, definitely one to try at home at some point, it was amazing.

3pm // A nice surprise to catch Rizzle Kicks' secret set on the BBC Introducing Stage.

4pm // Sticking around BBC Introducing to catch a set from upcoming Bath-based band, Bite the Buffalo, they were very good.
Definitely one for Black Keys fans.

5pm // Delicious cheese toasties that were well worth the wait.

6pm // Wait for Frightened Rabbit to come on, being delighted by this Powerpoint mastery.

7pm // Sitting on the floor, getting pushed to the back by the overwhelming amount of fangirls muscling their way in for Bastille. We stayed for a few songs and he sounded good, but man, it was far too crazy.

8pm // Making our way to the Pyramid stage for Dizzee Rascal & Arctic Monkeys.

9pm // Sometimes you need to be there to get it, a fun VT of Robbie Williams lip-syncing accompanied Dizzee Rascal's 'Goin' Crazy', totally didn't make any sense.

10pm // Arctic Monkeys on the Pyramid Stage - turns out I know a lot less of their stuff than I thought I did. They were a lot of fun though, even if the crowd were a little pushy.

This year has gone by so quickly and it makes it feel all the more fast-paced to think that this challenge I've set myself is now literally halfway through, I can't believe it.

Glastonbury 2011 Video Diary.

I'm waiting for a few of the nails that I messed up last night to dry from being re-done so now seems like as appropriate time as any to post my video diary/documentary of Glastonbury 2011. It's just that you know, I might be a bit busy later.. can't think why. I already felt bad that Twitter got the link first.

So if you have a spare 50 minutes, although I'd be perfectly happy for you to watch it in bits, I recommend you watch it. Particularly if you like me, it could be argued to be a bit self-indulgent, but you didn't make one so... Enjoy!

Once again, if you want to be a creep and watch me graduate, you can go to this link at around 2:30 this afternoon.

Passed(!)

My first official degree year at Portsmouth University has been passed.
I'm so pleased, considering how nervous I was.

67% overall on my Gaze essay - nearly a first.. I got 60% on the presentation and 70% on the actual essay. So, so pleased, and I did much better than I thought I would with the other projects.
I guess things can only get better. It is a plus that these marks don't count towards the final degree grade though.
I really can feel myself improving and enjoying the idea of it more now, maybe I won't quit to do Media afterall.

Click here for photographs of my last few nights out with friends in Portsmouth.

I have booked tickets for my sister and I to go to Walking with Dinosaurs as Moon couldn't afford it. But I'm definitely going now, and I've gotten us some pretty decent seats, even if it was a bit pricey.

Now off to watch someone fail at Come Dine with Me.
Will put some actual work up soon, promise...
..weather was brilliant when I got up then it rained for about 3 hours, quite heavily too. June is bullshit. I hope it's not like this for Brighton.
