Tuesday Tabs. #3

I don't think that I know how to deal with my life at the moment, it seems like the second that I lose my motivation is the moment that I suddenly get loads on at once, weird. This happens every few weeks and in my 'lack of things to do' this morning, I sort of noticed a pattern... Shut up.

Anyway, there's a lot to do now. No, stuffing envelopes is not what I would hope to be doing but at least it's a sustainable job that allows me to save up some money for my upcoming internship.

This should be a good week, I'm seeing my favourite band of all time on Thursday and then I'm meeting my friend Abbie for a day in Shoreditch on Saturday, exciting.

Poor Chrome is so backed up this week, I totally put it down to hanging out and cat-sitting at my Gran's for the majority of last week. But sometimes being on the Internet is fun and you can find some really neat stuff. I kind of really love how my blog has morphed into this scrap-booky place where I dump cool things I find and my wishlists, it's going to be fun to refer back to once don't feel like I'm on borrowed time, which is totally what I'm blaming my terrible nerves on. ♥

Dragon necklace, £30, Tatty Devine
So, to celebrate the fact that it was Chinese New Year yesterday and the fact that this year is the Year of the Dragon, Tatty Devine have released this cute dragon necklace. Slightly different to their normal stuff but still pretty cute.

I've liked Holly's work for a while now but recently I've been really into it, and loving the work she's putting out there. This image, and a selection of great other ones are available to buy on her Society 6 page, I think this one and it's brother are definitely must-haves for my future kitchen.

Chocolate Wicker Bag, £11.88, Circus Bear Vintage
Semi-fallen for this wicker handbag on Kaylah's (from The Dainty Squid) Etsy shop. I think it would be lovely for spring and I've been looking around for something similar for a little while now. Circus Bear Vintage also has some of the prettiest shoes, but I think I have too many, luckily I'm not too hot on working out the size differences.

Umming and ahhing over whether to buy tickets to see him in October, where will I even be (probably still here)? But I thought this was yet another great video from him, I really hope that the 'talking' cat is a reference to 'Beginners' because that would be nice.

Slowly but surely discovering the immensity of Kitties & Bullshit.

These are all over London, I think they're great and they're so neatly organised. I think this one is my favourite.

Shelf Porn.

Best episode of 'New Girl' so far. Dammit!

I think it makes everything better when you have a healthy amount of Marc Johns in your life.

  • Design Cove — A really great blog I found which features some great branding and graphic design. I can't find much additional information about it because it's in 'new Blogger' format, but it's worth a look if you're interested in design and fonts, there are some pretty inspirational pieces.
  • We Are Handsome — Awesome bathing suit designers who have perfected the art of bringing together photographs and swim wear, classic. For those who don't have enough bear on their swimwear.
  • The Girl with 7 Horses — Interesting photography series combining clothing, imagination and beautiful landscape. It's tough to explain, but it's also a bit brilliant.
  • Etsy Play On: Being Alive — A great blog series that I must pay more attention to. This one is presented by illustrator Julia Pott as she guides us through a playlist featuring the likes of Rob Ryan and other neat artists that show us how great it is to be alive.
  • Noted: The Unseen Tours of London — Definitely going to start reading the Etsy blog, I feel like it's very important.
  • Unpaid Internships: Rights and Wrongs — A fab guide to unpaid internships through the eyes of illustrator, Holly Exley. Really summed up the pros and cons on unpaid internships perfectly, and helped me put some personal things into perspective. Her blog is quite good anyway though, you should just have a look.

    35mm Underwater Trial.

I was slightly skeptical about what would happen with these images. Particularly from the second roll due to the fact that I opened the back and the film hadn't rewound properly, but only a few of the images were over-exposed and I didn't really lose any, which was good. I do have some classic 'film snapshot' images with thumbs over the lens, which is nice (Moon!). I really enjoy shooting on film actually though. I think the instantaneous process of digital takes the excitement out of photography somewhat, but I think that that view has been pounded into me from being a photography student, even if it is actually what I think as well.

So I'm quite pleased with these, even if I'm fully of the opinion that Boots totally overcharge for 35mm processing and I probably won't be going with them.
These are from Brittany, so they're mainly beach ones, I'm not sure how I would use such a simple camera in any other way really.

Like I said, we've spent a lot of time around the Brittany area in our life, this was probably the first time we've been on this side of the beach, probably the last too because the sea on that side appears to have a bed of clay rather than sand, it's fun for about 12 seconds until you realise you can't really walk properly.

    Facebook album

Currently listening to Ed Sheeran's debut album, '+', while uploading this, download, it's perfection. It's everything I was hoping for, even if he's altered 'The City' and 'You Need Me I Don't Need You', I now have a consolidated collection of Ed Sheeran tracks and I am happy, I think I'll be listening to this album for a while until The Maccabees get their arses in gear. My favourite track on it at the moment is Grade 8, it has basically everything I like about music.

    New Video: Ed Sheeran, YNMIDNY.

Maybe I'm a bit behind the 'Youtube times' because Ed Sheeran's new video dropped around 36 hours ago and I wasn't even aware of it. A small part of me perhaps relishes in the simplicity of this SBTV recording that's been floating around for a while, and maybe it's because I've seen it so stripped back when performed live, either in real life or on recordings, but I think I could get used to this.
This is one of my favourite Ed Sheeran songs and I'm glad he's beefed it up a bit for it's upcoming release.

I think it's a very brave move as such a new artist to hardly feature himself in this video, and it was the same schtick for his last single 'The A-Team'. However, judging by how much he's getting around at the moment and how dedicated he is to playing so many live shows, we already know it's him so there's hardly any need to milk it. I actually really like this anyway, the lighting is great and it has rings of La Haine about it. I also really like the use of metaphorical and literal imagery. I'm very pleased that this version has changed from what I see to be 'the original', purely because of the 'VO5 Wax lyric' and memories it holds of how big a cheer he got on the Croissant Neuf stage.

Ed Sheeran's still one to watch and he's not going to go away, they show his music videos on 4Music and everything!

    Ed Sheeran meets ASOS.

Two things that I quite enjoy.

Speaking of videos, my Glastonbury video is looking to be at least an hour long at this rate, I hope I'll be able to upload it somewhere. I really like all of it, I suppose it's more personal anyway, I'd just like to be able to share it with my friends that are a bit further away from me, that's all.
When I thought about making it, I didn't think I'd get enough for more than 10 minutes, we're just arriving into Glastonbury when it gets to the 10 minute mark, so make your assumptions from that. I want to put it on Youtube, but I'm not sure I could deal with something so personal being ripped to shreds...

    Ed Sheeran.

Double-posting today. If you've taken a peak at my Glastonbury Facebook album, you'll have noticed that one of the people I saw was the wonderful Ed Sheeran. I didn't want to go too mainstream, and I was busy waiting for Mumford & Sons and getting something to eat so I missed him on BBC Introducing and caught him on the Croissant Neuf stage instead — who appeared to have a bigger crowd from what I can see anyway.

Anyway, due to how down-to-earth and genuine Ed seems, I'm subsequently attempting to track down whatever backcatalogue I can find. Aside from the lead singer of Dry the River, I think Ed was the best vocal I heard all weekend. He truly has an amazing voice and a great rapport with his audience considering it does seem to just be him, some cool effects and his guitar. He's a funny guy and demonstrated his cool, polished act both on Croissant Neuf and later on the BBC Introducing, although I am led to believe he played a couple more sets over the course of Glastonbury.

As per usual, headliners of the BBC Introducing stage, be it at Glastonbury or any other festival are definitely ones to watch and Ed Sheeran is no exception. His combination of soft vocals with fast, clever raps gives him a fresh edge to an arguably over-populated style. Last time I heard, Ed was charting at number three with this single, 'The A Team', a deep, meaningful song stemming from a charity gig he did at a homeless shelter in Camden. He announced during his BBC Introducing set that his next single is, 'You Need Me', my favourite that I've heard so far, simply for it's wittiness and the final line.

I would definitely recommend that you give Ed Sheeran a listen because he's going to be everywhere within the next few months. A couple of Sheeran's EP's can be purchased from the iTunes store already. I would guess that this is due to his upcoming performance at The Roundhouse as part of the iTunes Festival supporting Bruno Mars - I have entered both via the official competition and Ed's own competition in which he is giving away 35 tickets for his 8th July gig.

I'm hoping to try and kick off my writing and blogging generally again now that I have time and a few more events to talk about.
