Duuhh.
This was so, so fun last night.
Could have done with some seating as they were sitting down and it wasn't a dancey affair, plus it felt like I'd been running around all over the place yesterday so I could have done with it. I was dying for around 45 minutes of it because I was so thirsty and it was so boiling. It was fun once I managed to get a drink though. The whole gig was an interesting experience, it wasn't just songs that I like, they had a lot of banter with the crowd and told a lot of jokes, the support, Bob Scheider was pretty good too.
At the end of the gig, people from the audience were allowed to take the set home, I saw one woman with a rug over her shoulder as she left.
So as well as the photography I did yesterday, I also modelled.
This is for Abbie's project, I've seen all the potential final images and it looks great, I can't wait to finish mine, I think there's a lot of editing to be done, and with only three weeks left(!)
My G10, 35mm lens and replaced Diana F+ came in the post today, I'm looking forward to using all of them.

Men being men.

"I'll have to be honest and say I'm a bit of breast man!"
The shoot today went quite well, I have a feeling that my final images are within what I took today, I just need to tweak some of them. It was a lot easier than I expected, but boiling hot. I think I took enough time, I just hope that it wasn't too boring for my models really, they did a good job anyway.
My mind has been going 10 to the dozen today, I think it's thanks to a good breakfast.
My dissertation proposal is been looked upon in good favour and I've found lots of journals to help me out, I can't wait to start it properly, even if the thought of 10,000 words is unbelievably daunting. Everything to do with university work is whirling round in my head and it feels amazing to be so interested, even in other people's work, today was a great day.

Oh, heyaz Andy(!)
I have a proper idea, I am amazed with myself.
I may have mentioned I was going to focus on Andy and his weight loss - this has expanded, I am not focussing on male body issues and whether there is really a problem.
Due to the images I am shooting culminating in an editorial piece, it is important to note that whilst creativity is a key dimension within editorial photography, within certain magazines, it can be the written content that is important. So for my images, I will be focussing on classic lighting which will remain the focal point of creativity within my images against the innovation of the posing/makeup/costume etc.
Today I did a test shoot with Andy, who had already agreed to help me out anyway.
I had to do it at home because the studio is booked almost solidly and the only time I could get when I booked it was Thursday 18th at 2pm, which in terms of now is ages away. Some of these did turn out ok though.
I want my images to demonstrate the normality of my model's bodies, with the accompanying text elevating how they are perceived. From talking with men since the beginning of the overall project as well as keeping a pulse on male magazines and infotainment programmes, there seems to be an increase in the amount of men who have certain issues with their body, however small, this contrasts greatly with the man of a few years ago who was a 'right geeza' - now even Nuts tells you how to dress.
The buzz-word 'manorexia' has been thrown around and there has been an increase in male body dysmorphia, but that isn't really what this project is about, it's about normality and how normal guys feel about these emerging problems.
I personally think the concept is quite solid, I just need some visual research and more photographs. Work, work, WORK!

Lighting sesh.
This is the first time I've ever been solo - well, nearly solo - in the studio. I did need a bit of help here and there but I think I have it down for what I hope to be a proper shoot next time.
Andy and Moon helped me out for these and I'd hope to use them again as they're quite good at being directed and once I get to what my idea is, I'm sure I'll be better at directing. What magazine uses both male and female fashion models in the same sequence without being too 'fashion for fashion' or arty? I guess I'll be going on a hunt, not only for the right magazine but also for props. GQ Style would be a good way to go, but it's too short and I don't think it has much writing in it, plus I'd like some girls. In any case, this was just to get me more used to using the equipment on my own, which is why the posing is a bit cheesier and fun than what I'd actually be going for.
This is me helping Jason out with the lighting he wanted to do with our Sunday Supplements model, I'm pretty sure I look much fatter than usual in this, I'm blaming my clothes and lack of expression, I've lost like 5 lbs man.
I missed my first lecture of the semester this morning, I'm not sure whether to feel bad, because once you start skipping, you keep doing it but then again, it was a pointless lecture anyway. I'll have to diagnose what I missed when I go in for my afternoon session later. Most of my work is on track anyway, I'm not sure whether I am meant to have started anything yet though, like my Dissertation proposal, I have a very thorough plan, just nothing else and the same goes for the unit I missed this morning - tutorials for each are not until at least next week.
Moon is going away this weekend, I will be able to get much more done this way.

Ballerina 54 Lighting Shoot.
With the digital cameras, the Bowen lights were working as slave lights so we got lighting from both flash lights. I got to use my Speedlight for this, which made me quite pleased, I've really been getting my money's worth with it recently.
