Little Gif.

I meant to share this when I wrote my mammoth post about our Bank Holiday trip to Northern Ireland but a couple of the other .gifs I made didn't upload so I forgot about it, moved on and thought that just one on it's own wouldn't fit.

You know when you scroll through your digital camera super-fast, it's kind of fun when there are a few pictures that are similar but show different facial expressions or actions? Just me? Well, Moon snapped a zillion of me while we were queuing for Carrick-A-Rede without realising it was zoomed in. It was meant to be a picture with a nice background but I quite enjoy how happy and massive my face is.

Tuesday Tabs #18

Only a couple of hours before I have to leave for work, and the whole flat needs a clean, it's doable, I'm just so hungry right now. Everything is going quite well at the moment, I'm feeling like I'm settling into things, although I made a silly mistake regarding my other job yesterday which will hopefully easily fixed come Friday.

Some news regarding Little Cat, she is officially completely better following her adventure and she's not pregnant! She was but now isn't, something I am pleased about. I would jump at the chance to look after newborn kittens, but it's just not the right time and she's still a baby, I think it's much safer to wait a few more months before making that kind of decision, plus she's not going out again for a very long time.

I've not been up to much in terms of online activity as most of last week consisted of working, complaining about how much my feet hurt and then going to bed before doing the same thing again. I don't mind, it's just is a bit of a shame that I can't indulge this kind of activity as much. This is just one of two real downsides to this job so far, the other being that I'm not allowed to paint my nails; normally I would just paint them in between but because of the scheduling it's not really worth it, but it still makes me sad.

This was recently featured as part of Project 10, but I must say I didn't take as much notice of it as I did when I spotted it in-store yesterday. I think this photo doesn't nearly do it justice and it's much nicer in real life, it also differs quite a lot from other Henry Holland designs and just seems more whimsical than usual, it would be great for a summer walk.

Yet another Rob Ryan item that I'd love to have in my home. I spotted them on a one of his recent blog posts and I don't think they're even available in his shop yet. I have a feeling that they'll be a bit pricey but I don't see Rob Ryan as ever really being unaffordable so I hope to snap them up.


This is very good, I'm a bit sad that I was working and not able to catch the full show. Will Smith is very high on my list of favourite people.

A bit shorter than usual but I kind of like it. Now it's time for some lunch, and to sort out the flat, just under an hour and a half to go, I'd better get it together.

As cheesy as it sounds, and despite how appallingly cringey the earlier posts on this blog are, I am quite pleased to have kept this going. It has been really useful both to refer back to and as a general visual outlet. I was reading a well-known blogger's blog the other day and she was talking about how it will be a nice thing to look back on when she's older and maybe even able to share it with her kids. I think that's kind of a nice thought, and I'm already quite glad to share this now too.

This week my view count has picked up and I actually feel as though I'm talking to someone, hello!
So I thought I would share with you that I'm feeling positive and happy, particularly as I've mainly been feeling unmotivated and sluggish previously.

Here are some things that have made me happy this week.

I might actually have got to grips with driving, and I'm more excited than scared about three-point-turns and reverse parking.

I'm actually able to write on here and update it with apparently readable content.

I now have motivation to start applying for things properly again.

I'm going to Portsmouth tomorrow.

The sun is shining!

My favourite American shows are back, with just The Walking Dead left to wait for.

One thing that made me angry this week:
My favourite band is The Maccabees and I was unable to get tickets for their upcoming October/November tour because they were selling exclusively out of record stores who declined telephone orders, meaning you had to get the tickets in person. Rough Trade sold out by the end of Saturday.
This sales structure was based upon keeping booking fees down and keeping the shows more local, despite the fact that most ticket sales still involved a booking fee. It was a nice idea but now I am left without a ticket, I'm having Maccabees withdrawal symptoms and I need to hear some new songs, they're so good live and always have really fun support acts. I am hopeful that they will have another, larger tour once their new album is released in the New Year. This just bugged me because I've not seen them live for a long time and haven't heard any new material in a long time and now I have to wait even longer.

Last night on Channel 4.

Something that I really hate about Channel 4 is that usually their best stuff is on really late at night and they never tell anyone about, despite the fact that they probably still feel like they need to get over the loss of Big Brother.

But anyway, at around midnight last night they showed the Oscar-winning short, Logorama. I was pretty impressed, it had an almost perfect balance of social commentary and comedy. The animation is set within a fictional Los Angeles that is comprised of corporate logos. They have been really smart in the way that they have done this, watch out for the Adidas logo as flowers at the end.

I think it's very well put together and I've managed to find it online (demonstrating that the Internet is better than television), so I'd definitely recommend that you watch it, it's only 16 minutes of your life. I think that it's a must for communication design enthusiasts as well as graphic designers.

Disneyland: Hong Kong.

Something may seem slightly familiar about this post, it will have been my third Disneyland trip in the last year, which is crazy. I don't know how it happened but it just has, I'm embracing it, it's all coincidental, I'm not a total Disney freak, honest.

The Sleeping Beauty castle is small, as is the park itself, but that doesn't mean it's not a fun day out. I also found it strange that they make you sit down for the evening firework display, what if some visitors are older? Within their firework display they have incorporated elements of 'Fantasmic!', which is cool, but pointless if you're standing at the back, whether people are sitting down or not. I was slightly disappointed by the Festival of the Lion King show because they messed with both the songs and the story and not in a good way. I also didn't really enjoy the Jungle Cruise, which has the option of an English ride, but our 'guide' didn't really speak it very well and her comedic timing was cringey, but it always depends on who you get with that ride, whatever park. I enjoyed everything else though, my favourite of the day was The Golden Mickeys, it was lovely, made me feel like a kid again.
The park was very easy to get too and I was impressed by the cute train that you take to get to the 'exclusive' Disney MTR station. I think the park will be much more enjoyable and more exciting when it expands in 2014, until then I think I'd be more likely to recommend it to people with small children who wouldn't be spending the whole day there but that isn't to say that there isn't enough to do to fill time and enjoy yourself, it's Disney!

I think the photos are fairly self-explanatory, sorry they're not so good quality, I only took my point-and-shoot because I was finding that my SLR was becoming too heavy to lug everywhere, I did miss it when it got to taking photos are night time though.

Pixar VS Dreamworks.

I always thought that Pixar was somehow better than Dreamworks in terms of overall quality but I couldn't ever tell you why, I now know why, thanks to whoever did this. My mind was blown.

Goal for today; Pack.

Having gone through all the Pixar Shorts now, THIS ONE is by far the best, probably one of the best bits of animation I've seen in a while. So lovely, I wish real-life things were that cute. ♥

Two of my images are on the Vice Student photo channel - they didn't put in the other three. But I'm happy with two. There's not that many photos on there yet so I won't quite drown just yet - I'm on the first page today :)

Out of choice I'm still working on the Project Management RDB - typing and dragging and dropping pictures is much easier than cutting and sticking right now.
Nearly done, then I'm giving myself a break, I've been sat here since lunchtime, just doing work. Wahhh.

I'm feeling happy.

My research & development folder for Project Management 2 is looking much better than it was. Due to it having to be in PDF format (I'm doing it digitally), I've decided to split it into three separate files for ease of reading - otherwise everything just get's squashed into one massive file together and it makes it very unenjoyable to read.I've written all my seminar notes into it, now all I have to do is actual research, which won't be too difficult, although I've seen a lot of people around who seem to have done LOADS.

I'm going through the Pixar shorts back catalogue. (1984-2009)
They're quite enjoyable but the early stuff is unbearable, it's amazing how far everything's come though. If you can guess what these stills are from I will look upon you fondly.

This looks awful. "A return to the timeless artform of traditional animation" - I disagree, no matter how it looks, it will never be as funny or look as good as those that proceeded it. Sorry Disney.
All I have to say though is that I'm glad I had my childhood when I did. It must suck being a child now, High School Musical...urgh.
