Move to the Beat of London 2012.

I'm a little indifferent to London 2012. I hope it will do good things to London but there's a lot of pessimism both inside me and around me that says otherwise. London can barely handle two rush hours a day, yet there's an expectation that the transport system has the capacity to handle an extra three million journeys a day, just by making everyday commuters 'take a holiday', avoid London altogether or walk, not really good enough, especially when the trains aren't even nice.

Where I am concerned, transport is the tiniest issue as I hope to be based elsewhere, although never say never. Anyway although 'everything Olympics' is bound to be in our faces even once those two weeks are over, I thought I'd share Mark Ronson's neat, Olympic-inspired track (no pun intended) with you. Despite having been undoubtedly sounded pretty samey for the last four or five years, I think Ronson's really done something great with this one. I'm a big fan of things like 'STOMP' and the use of everyday items as instruments, so this was bound to please me. You may have spotted the Coca-Cola advert on television recently and obviously something as simple as this couldn't be related to the Olympics without being a bit commercial, but it's still clever and a definite must-watch.

Full-length 'Move to the Beat of London' Coca-Cola advert

Ronson has spent months working with athletes collecting sounds from their field and put it all to a beat to make something pretty catchy. Everything comes together as the Coca-Cola advertisement above, but has also be documented by director Kim Gehrig to show the journey from initial idea to finished product, and that's what looks like the really interesting part.

Even if the Olympics does end up making London look stupid, Mark Ronson, with his weird English-American'ness', will have gained a legacy, or at least acknowledgement that he isn't just all about trumpets. I might have left Katy B out of it though.

Tuesday Tabs #7

Lucky number seven! Blogging from a different place today and without my laptop, but I've tried my best to remember everything. Mainly so once I get home I can tidy up my computer, but also because I enjoy making this visual scrapbooks, even if I'm the only person watching.

I'm currently down in Dorking staying with my Gran as the journey from here is much quicker to Didcot and cheaper, than from New Malden. It's only until tomorrow morning but quite nice because I get tea cooked for me :)

I've not spent that much time at the computer recently, apart from to upload my own images. I don't want to be tempted by too many things online that I can't afford. I've also tried to steer clear for the last few days due to Oscars spoilers, call me a geek if you will, but I kind of love the whole ceremony - the news already informed me about The Artist winning best film and Christopher Plummer winning for best supporting actor, which I'm so happy about as 'Beginners' is probably my favourite film I've seen this year.

Today was the big Alamy interview, and I think it went well. It was super easy to get to, which considering I had to rely on public transport, was a mega plus - not that I plan to commute from New Malden/Dorking for long. The job sounds smashing-great and I'd just really love to be given a break soon. Things do kind of feel like they'll be on the up soon though.

Let The Be Flight Hanging Lamp, $97.99, Modcloth
How amazing is his lampshade? I think it would work best on a standing lamp rather than on the ceiling, so you could enjoy the detail. It's so overly whimsical, I love it.

Bear Bottle Opener, $13.99, Modcloth
I'm so into this bear bottle opener, so here's hoping that it will be back in stock soon. Since seeing the Funkytime Ikea Kitchen Cart Makeover, I'm totally inspired to make my own version once I'm moved out. I'm actually not into the cart as such but this would look good anywhere, at the side of a kitchen counter, on a table, watch this space.

No idea how this escaped me previously, I've loved New Girl from the beginning. This is Zooey Deschanel's version of the interactive video on the official New Girl website, but you can make you own here.

Burger & Chips Salt and Pepper Shaker Set, £9, Urban Outfitters

Persian Cat Salt and Pepper Shakers, £9, Urban Outfitters

Tee-shirt Frames, £20, Urban Outfitters
For someone who says they don't really like Urban Outfitters I do seem to be spending an awful lot of time browsing there. I'm totally promising myself that it's just for inspiration rather than intent. I did think that these were a nifty idea anyway. Frames for t-shirts would be great for someone like Moon, who has so many t-shirts with pretty designs that he's either worn out or doesn't get around to wearing. With shops like Boy Parker and sites like Threadless as well as many independent illustrators going for more design-orientated t-shirts, I can totally buy framing a t-shirt as a piece of artwork, but that might be just because I really love frames and framing things...

I watched this the other day and I firmly related to it, perhaps wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's feeling super down about finishing Uni but it was pretty funny and had that pretty, hazy indie film feel about it. I already had it to watch but my current read, 'Geek Girls Unite' bumped it to the top of my 'must-watch' list and I'm glad that it didn't disappoint.

Generally I hate this meme, but overall it's kind of true... sadface.

Link love:
  • DIY Shadowbox with Modcloth - I must start checking out the Modcloth blog more regularly as on a quick browse, it features so many things that I'm interested in and like to look at.

  • 9-Eyes - I came across this a while ago, but it's such a unique take on Photography's function in the digital age. It showcases the weird and wonderful of Google Street View, some of the images are stunning, others are odd, but it's definitely worth a look.

  • Ryan Gosling Pancake - So, it was Shrove Tuesday last week, and I thought this was a particularly good pancake, bringing together my love of two particularly attractive things, may give this a go next year.

  • We All Scream Shaker Set - Too many nice salt and pepper shakers around at the moment, may have to resort to having several sets.

  • 5 Overlooked Muppets - Can't believe it's taken so long for me to find Boyparker's new and improved blog, but it's amazing. This is my favourite so far, in case your Muppets trivia wasn't up to scratch.

  • Attempted Illustration - The Royal Tenebaums - Take a look at my friend Izzy's Royal Tenenbaum series, it's very good.

  • Drive Neon Sign

  • Casey Weldon - A great artist for lovers of pop culture, I particularly enjoy this scary Steve Zissou print.
I hope that your week is going well so far, would love hear what you think about these posts. Personally, I know I've said this before but I'm kind of using it as a scrap book, so I can keep track of things rather than clog everthing up. I can tend to change my mind quite quickly so I feel like it's also a good way to help me make choices, I think these kinds of posts are especially going to come in useful as visual reference points when I move out, a likely win for structured fun.

    Double-team.

Hello second post of the day. I'm on top of things for once. I've uploaded everything onto eBay, and even already have a few watchers, and I've got my outfit from today to show you as well as photos of my babe.

I went to Wing Yip with my Mum, sister, auntie and cousins this morning/afternoon for dim sum and ate myself to death. That's the danger of dim sum, so much choice, so little room in your stomach.
I spent the rest of today playing in the garden with my cat, talking on the phone with Moon and uploading those clothes onto eBay, pretty productive Sunday if you ask me.

So not looking forward to the Jobcentre tomorrow, really looking forward to heading down to Dorking to visit my Gran afterwards though, but super-silly nervous about my Alamy interview on Tuesday, eep!

    Shirt: H&M
    Necklaces: Topshop, H&M
    Bracelet: Gift from Moon
    Playsuit: Primark
    Belt: Dorothy Perkins (with dress)
    Tights: Superdrug
    Shoes: Converse/Amazon

I actually really love this playsuit but it was stuffed in the back of my chest of drawers for months and it has a tendency to get a bit 'bummy' when not enforced so not the best for winter, which is why the nice weather was a good excuse. I'm really glad that spring is trying to let us know that it's around the corner. Not that that doesn't terrify me at the same time due to the fact that it will soon be nearly eight months since I officially graduated and, not including internships, will be eight months that I've been unemployed, which is very uncool.

I was so happy when I remembered that I had this, it also makes up for the fact that my watch is stuck at Moon's house until I see him at the tail end of next week. I never thought I that I wouldn't like naked wrists.

My cousin has two young sons and this is a drawing of a cat that my mum did to entertain the youngest. She was kind of absent-mindedly doing it too, so it would seem that I'm not the only who's feeling a bit cat-centric since the arrival of our feline friend.

I'm trying to start to compare how she's grown since we got her, I know she has but I haven't got any real evidence. She's definitely more ballsy in any case, not to mention more of a pain, but look how beautiful and white she is in natural daylight :)

Hope you had a proper Sunday like I did. Fingers crossed for the chilling out to continue into next week, I don't mind so much about the impending stress of Tuesday though, obviously.

    Rinse, repeat.

Definitely beginning to feel a little stale and repetitive, I'll try and be a bit more exciting soon. Probably not going to apologise for having obvious interests though ♥

Here is a photo of me trying to show you how cool the Barry M glitter I bought the other week is. Although you can't see it very well, I'm actually in love with it, it looks different all the time and even though it's glitter it's not too over the top. I think that should I ever need something over the top it will be a good point of call though.

This is what I wore yesterday, I love this dress but am so sad that all the beads from the neck keep falling out. Pretty glad I got it in the sale, I would be furious if I'd forked out the original £45 price tag. I really like this outfit actually, I was pretty comfy all day without the usual 'omigawd I'm so hot' episodes that often happen when going in and out of places.

    Jacket: New Look (gift)
    Bag: Yucca
    Necklace: found
    Dress: Yumi
    Tights: Primark
    Shoes: Converse/Amazon

So in love with Models Own Aciiied, definitely a current favourite.
Base colour: BeautyUK, Fuschia No. 42
    Spots: Models Own, Aciiied
    eBay nail art pen.

As I said, I'm in need of a bit of a change of scenery but it was Vintage Flea Market time over at Spitalfields and it wasn't like I was doing anything else, so I dragged my sister along for an afternoon out.

I managed to nip into Maiden, which was lovely as usual and I spotted these cuties. There are so many adorable salt and pepper shakers around at the moment, particularly on Modcloth, but these are easily the best so far, ever. They're made by Quail Ceramics, the same company that made my pug egg cup and guinea pig money box, everything they do is good as far as I'm concerned, particularly their new goat egg cup.

Maiden is just very good, every one should pop in take a look at all the wonderful things they have to offer.

They were filming some kind of film in a café across from Boxpark, strictly no gawkers, but I managed this sneaky pap.

It was pretty important to pick up some of Cyber Candy's own-brand cola, so Boxpark was on the cards. I've only noticed the great neon underwear signs that Calvin Klein has.

We went to Square Pie for lunch, so tasty. I also loved the packaging for this milk, I'm not really a 'milk as a drink with food' person so I didn't get any, but how sweet are those cows?

We had a wander around the market, as is standard, but there was actually loads to look at that was realistic and affordable, it's just a pity that currently, affordable for me still needs to be free or not at all, but it's a bit vulgar to talk about money so I'll just show you the rest of the snaps.

This is a pretty poor photo but how cool is this vintage luggage?

Here are some cute tiny milk jugs on display in InSpitalfields.

I did manage to get my hands on a can of Cyber Candy cola by the way, it's currently sitting in the fridge though and I've yet to try it, fingers crossed that it's tasty.

It was a good Saturday afternoon, I think it's definitely time to research into other areas to explore though, everything just seems so samey.

    Echo.

    Current mantra.

How great has the weather been for the last few days? What a weird month, snow and now this, crazy. It's nice to not have to be in a scarf and coat at all times, but I'm on edge, knowing how indecisive British weather has a tendency to be, particularly as Spring makes it's way in. Still, a good excuse to wear some different clothes and have a clear out.

These are some photos that I don't think will fit anywhere at the moment but that I like.

Yep, Dolly has got a taste for outdoors and managed to get out of my bedroom window. She wasn't able to figure out how to get back in either so ended up running up and down the neighbouring houses. It was kind of fun, and I do eventually want her to go outside and be a hunter, but as we plan on letting her have kittens, she's still just too young and although it makes her a bit sad for a while, I think it will be easier in the long run to be responsible for a bit.

This was my outfit on Thursday, I was in jeans but promptly changed into something a bit more summery. The jacket will be on eBay tomorrow as I've come to the conclusion that it's just too big, and that's not really what I'm going for at the moment, seems a bit silly given that I wore just the other day, the colours are great, but look at how boxy I am. :(
    Jacket: eBay
    Necklace: Primark
    Dress: Primark
    Belt: Primark
    Tights: Dorothy Perkins
    Socks: New Look
    Shoes: Dorothy Perkins

Gratuitous sunset photo from Thursday, it was a cracking sunset though.

So here is me letting you know that I'll be listing a few things on eBay tomorrow, generally to get rid of them, but also to get rid of the guilt I have over buying them and never wearing them. A link to my eBay can be found here. It's such a drudge to list things but £0 insertion fees are pretty nice. Here's a quick preview of some of the items I'll be listing.

eBay photography is so strange, it becomes a bit odd when you begin to realise how structured the whole process is, despite the difference of ability between users. I'm sure there's a University Photography project in that somewhere.

I hope that you had a nice Saturday and that you enjoy the rest of your weekend. I went to the Vintage Flea Market at Spitalfields this afternoon, but I think I'll save that for tomorrow to save an ultra-long, muddled post. I think for my photo-taking it's kind of imperative that I have a change of scenery soon...
