Maxin' relaxin'.

I learnt today that Sunday is 'the' day in Hong Kong, I thought it was busy before, today was about ten times busier than usual. There were people everywhere, touching me with their sticky skin, I hate bumping in the people generally, but when the weather is like this, it's just gross.

My sister and I had a wander up to Times Square and back to the flat. There isn't much to tell about today because we didn't actually do anything. Sunday also seems to be the day that a lot of Filipino's come to hang out at Causeway Bay, there is a huge food market set up for them outside our apartment and they all sit on the street chatting and making bags, it's quite nice.

In Times Square, because it was so busy and everything there is either designer clothes or electronics, Lucy and I had a break at the Ben & Jerry's stall and tried some of the delicious, unknown to the UK, flavours. I had Clusterfluff (Peanut butter), Sweet Cream and Cookies (Oreo) and Coffee Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz (Duh!). I long for the day Clusterfluff is brought over the UK, it's easily become my favourite, even after one try. I wish we had more interesting flavours in the UK, Phish Food just doesn't cut it, especially at the price that it usually is.

We saw a couple doing 'trash the dress' on our way back to the flat, so cool.

Tomorrow I am up early to go to Ocean Park, which I hope won't be too busy. I'm looking forward to the cable car ride and ofcourse, seeing the Giant Pandas. I finally have a working, hand-held fan, so I hope I'll be able to 'take the heat', eep!

London Zoo.

My sister and I had a day trip to London Zoo yesterday, there was a lot of walking involved but we had a nice day being tourists and looking at animals. It wasn't too busy or too full of families with screaming children. The tigers were asleep and hopefully I took some nice photographs. I've uploaded a full set onto Flickr.

Since returning from NUJDM I have decided that it would be a good idea to revive my Flickr. I also want to move everything over to Lightroom but I think that it would be a better idea to do that when I have more time, so, along with a new website, it's being put on the back burner for the time being.

I'm being interviewed for a documentary tomorrow by Gareth Lewis, who participated in my half-Chinese project. Coincidently he was also thinking of doing a documentary on the same subject and he's finally put the wheels in motion to get a pilot filmed so he can begin applying for funding. I've never been interviewed before but it's quite convenient that I'm fairly recently clued up on the subject and know what I want to say.

Also, I have plans in July to head over to Hong Kong with my mum and sister, I'm quite excited about it, mainly because I'm quite up for taking as many photos as I can.

NUJ Delegate Meeting roundup.

So, I've had a little bit of time to reflect and catch up on the extreme lack of sleep I had to deal with over the weekend and I have realised what a brilliant weekend NUJDM was.
I've met some great people and if I gain nothing else from working with the NUJ Student Team, I've got that great experience. I don't know what I was so nervous about but now I know I could do it again and for some reason my confidence actually feels as though it's through the roof.

Eventually I'm going to get round to uploading my personal images from the weekend, but I think between editing my profile and looking at other people's articles that that is quite enough for today.

Now it's back to reality and concentrating on starting my project report for my final unit as well as finishing off my RDB, not as exciting as tweeting and photographing all day. I've got some fun things planned for the Easter break but I really do hope that I can muster up the enthusiasm to get this work out of the way, just because, apart from Viva, that's it.
I hope the weather stays nice for me, just because I've basically been underground for 5 days and it would be nice to catch some rays.

Here is a photo of me taken by fellow student delegate photographer, Dougal Wallace, it looks much better than I thought it would when he took it. The girl who thinks that she isn't in the photo is Angie, she was my roommate for the weekend, I definitely want to keep in touch with her.

Carol Vargas also has an awesome series on her Flickr called 'Legs in the Air' but I like this 'Noah's Ark - Animal's Meeting' set the best because it's pretty inspiring in relation to my 'in my head' dressing up box project that I might possibly do next semester.
Although finding stuff like this just affirms the fact that creatively, I am almost completely unoriginal, even if I find the photos after my own idea.

I also found this at Mint Magazine, made me laugh out loud, it's kind of funny how these are just suddenly trendy, but it makes me feel mega-cool for having one this time last year and it wasn't even from kigu.co.uk, amateurs.

I've just activated my old Flickr to help me out with this 30-day challenge thing, as well as some other things I was thinking about looking over. I've been meaning to do it for a while and I can't believe how different I am now. Maybe I don't have much of a right to be surprised as some of the older images are over four years old. There are some photographs that show the developings of the kind of photographer I am today, but the titles are nowhere near any kind of reflection. I've also been reading through my old old blog on Myspace, right back to when I was still with Wiggy up until when I got together with Moon, oh my God, I don't even fancy really going into it.















This is really scary, I might actually be a real grown up soon...
I guess everyone is entitled to be a loser as a teenager, I think I'm going to stop thinking about it for a bit. I'm 21 in a month and three days.

Foodtography.

I think I will try some of this, even if I am still not very good at lighting and my plates and tables don't match as well as this girls'. Lovely idea, and a more interesting way to photograph food as well, something that some people who read this may have noticed I enjoy doing. I should definitely try and light any images I take this way better, I think it's one of the keys.

365/3.

Thinking about starting a 365 project. Watch this space.
I think it would be good for my portfolio as well as help me get better at just selecting one image at a time. Although I'll still be carrying on with the same style of blogging I'm doing now, just with intermissions of 365.

This is mainly due to the fact that I see so many others selecting just one piece of work for something, and I am uploading tons, when it's not even like I think any of it is even particularly good.

I'm taking inspiration from Flickr user, Ansy, who I recently looked at again. Hers are far more staged and creative that mine will be. But I figured what with yammering on about how good 2010 is going to be and the fact that it's only just started, it would be great to try and document it day by day.

It will probably be hard at first, but I'll get the hang of it eventually, and try and build it into my routine.
We'll see how Day One goes tomorrow.
It's the big move back down to Portsmouth. I should probably get some shut-eye. Moon's Dad is calling for me at half-past nine - I'm not leaving for Portsmouth until the afternoon though.

UPDATE: Just realised that Blogger allows for multiple blogs per user, could create a separate one for 365.

..here are some treats.

I've scanned in the two brooches I bought in Brighton at the weekend.

The cat one is from a vintage market stall ♥ and the deer is from Ju-ju.
I only scanned them to see what it would look like, and because I couldn't be bothered to create a further backlog of photographs. I think it looks pretty neat, I've seen this kind of thing done before, might give it a proper try at some point.

I just picked them up because I quite like them, it's a pity that my scanner hasn't picked up the detail of the slides because they look pretty good in real life.
I wish I'd stayed longer in Brighton, being chucked out of the hotel at 11 o'clock was quite annoying.
